History of wigs in Egypt

History of wigs in Egypt

Wigs have been used since ancient times. At that time, the first people to turn to wigs, or rather to invent them, were Egyptians. The ancient Egyptians had to shave their heads against their will, for various reasons, including unfavorable weather conditions, extreme heat, and the spread of lice. This led young girls and boys, who throughout history have cared a lot about their beauty and clothing, to think of replacing something that would fill in the gaps in their hair. Therefore, they designed a wig that, in addition to having benefits for their appearance, could prevent sunburn on their scalp and also prevent their scalp from getting hot and sunburned and fungal diseases.

History of wigs

Helmet was originally made from plant fibers and used because plant fibers cause the least damage and skin sensitivity. Gradually, wigs became an integral part of Egyptian clothing, and many changes took place in the way they were produced. To the extent that at some point in the history of ancient Egypt, the type and model of helmets represented the dignity and social status of the people. For this reason, the aristocracy wore hats with natural hair and the health standards of the time, the middle class wore hats made of fleece, and the poor wore plant fibers. Egyptian women in the upper and affluent classes of the society always adorned their hats with strings of gold, braids, and beads made of ivory. The interesting thing was that little by little, the design and model of women’s hats grew and evolved, and a popular and new profession emerged at that time. The beauty of these hats also attracted a few other tribes.

History of wigs in Greece

History of wigs in Greece

The Egyptians were the first to put wigs on their mummies. After the ancient Egyptians, the Theologians also became popular among the Greeks, Romans, Assyrians, and Phoenicians. The ancient Romans made their natural hats from the hair of slaves under their control. In ancient Greece, both men and women wore wigs. Greek women did not lag behind the women of ancient Egypt in the development of various models of women’s wigs adorned with jewelry of their time, and the fashion market among them also became hot and prosperous. Prosperous women in ancient Greece have always been role models for middle- and lower-class women; For this reason, the hat they wore was a model for other sections of society. Of course, due to the fact that women of other classes of society did not have the financial strength to have a hat with natural hair, they were content with models of fleece that did not have the beauty and charm of the natural type.

In the Middle Ages, hats were the distinguishing feature of the country’s elders from other sections of society.
Elizabeth I was one of the English queens who became famous for her special wig models. His keen interest in wigs adorned with the precious jewels of his day set him apart from other great men of his time.

Use wigs in Iran

Use wigs in today’s world

In my country, Iran, the use of wigs was common until a few years ago, especially among women. Women wore wigs to attend various ceremonies, such as weddings. But today, the use of wigs has decreased and most people go to skin and hair clinics to compensate for baldness or thinning hair. To treat their own hair problems through methods such as hair transplantation, hair extensions and keratinization and other methods. Going to beauty clinics in Iran is not only for women and men also go to these medical centers, especially for hair transplants.
